The Washington Post Trumpets the Healthcare Village

Alter+Care’s ground-breaking Healthcare Village concept ph2009042002356was the subject of a recent Washington Post article.

Donna Jarmusz, Alter+Care Senior Vice President who is quoted in the article, notes that “The concept aims to make the healthcare experience more positive, with a less sterile, institutional feel.  Part of that feeling is created by including restaurants and fitness centers, so people won’t be intimidated about visiting the villages.  And the more positive the visit, the more people will be encouraged to be healthy, cutting costs spent on preventable diseases.”

Healthcare Villages also are a response to the need for lower-cost environments to deliver care at a time when healthcare spending has mushroomed to $2.4 trillion a year.
